Week Calendar

Every Wednesday morning, we open up the children's programming room to give kids and families time for free play with our stash of puppets. Children must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Explore endless creative possibilities using paper with hands-on stations led by artist JD de Wit. Featured activities include no-cut collage, bleeding tissue paper shapes, and windsocks. 

Join us on the first and third Saturday of each month! Build unique LEGO architecture and display your own LEGO creations at the library. *Please leave your personal LEGOs at home, we have plenty!

Join us for stories and fun every Saturday morning! Get ready to dance and sing as well as listen to stories with an accompanying craft happening the second half of Story Time!  All ages are welcome.

Travel the globe exploring different world cultures through story and song with bilingual performer Jon Sundell. Take home a colorful balloon animal! 

Join Ms. Brandon for a fun combination of movement, songs, yoga poses, and breath techniques! This program is designed for children 1-3 and their caregivers.  Ms. Brandon is a local yoga instructor who specializes in working with children.

Come make some amazing, colorful terrariums with us! 

Make your own polymer clay earrings! Advance registration is required; sign up at the front desk of the North Asheville branch. For ages 12-18.

Create a variety of simple puppets out of paper bags, paper shapes and google eyes. Regular (unheated) gluesticks will be used so this activity is suitable for all ages!

There’s a lot you can learn from leftovers! This raptor-based program will teach the basics of owl biology, as well as have them work in pairs or small groups to dissect a pellet collected from one of the Nature Center’s birds of prey!

Join us for a lively language enrichment story time designed for children ages 4 to 18 months.

Trying out your new reading skills in front of other people can be intimidating! But dogs always listen and never judge, even when we make mistakes.

Join us for an educational program with the North Carolina Arboretum to learn all about the many different herptiles that call Western North Carolina their home! What's a herptile you ask? Herptiles are reptiles and amphibians!
