Join us for a fun and interactive story time designed for children ages 18 months to 3 years.  

Every Wednesday morning, we open up the children's programming room to give kids and families time for free play with our stash of puppets. Children must be under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Join us for a lively language enrichment story time designed for children ages 4 to 18 months.

Explore endless creative possibilities using paint with hands-on stations led by artist JD de Wit. Featured activities include watercolor resist painting, fabric bandana painting, and tempera painting. 

Bring your little ones and drop in any time between 10 - 11:30am for some fun, no-mess sensory play! Explore different textures, shapes, colors, and sounds with Play-Doh, sensory bins, musical instruments, and more.

Join us for stories and fun every Saturday morning! Get ready to dance and sing as well as listen to stories with an accompanying craft happening the second half of Story Time!  All ages are welcome.

Florida-based Cosmic Americana band Electric Blue Yonder brings their eclectic “space folk” musical style to the Black Mountain Library! Dance and sing along! Fun for all ages!

Drop in anytime between 11am and 1pm and play with the new GIANT yard games! Tic Tac Toe, Coney Island Toss, and more!

Professor Whizzpop returns to wrap up another summer season with a wild BUBBLE BLAST!! A giant cannon will blow out LOTS & LOTS of bubbles to form a MASSIVE pile of foam for playing in. Outdoor Fun for the entire family!

Join us for a series of fun, themed yoga classes with children's yoga instructor, Brandon Hudson! Yoga will be followed by a story and craft on the day's theme. Mats will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own!

Learn about mosaics, collages, and pointillism from famous art throughout history, and use our art supplies to try your hand at a creation of your own! Open to ages 5 and up.

Escape room! Analyze clues and solve puzzles to find your way out. Bring your friends or make some new ones. Ages 12+.

Junk journaling is a great form of self-expression. This art form emphasizes the use of found and recycled materials to create a personal, artistic record of thoughts, memories, and inspiration. 

Did you know that a lemon can light up an LED bulb? Participants in this hands-on STEM activity will explore electricity generation through chemical reactions and learn about voltage, current and circuits.

Join us for an educational program with the North Carolina Arboretum to learn all about the many different insects that call Western North Carolina their home (and some that don't)! Ever wondered how flies' eyes work?

Trying out your new reading skills in front of other people can be intimidating! But dogs always listen and never judge, even when we make mistakes.

Have fun in the library after it closes with video games, nerf wars, Guiness World record breaking games, D&D, Magic the Gathering, food and more! 

Join us outside during Groovin' on Grovemont for a wonderful painting craft using marbles! 

We will use tempera paint for this craft, but please be aware that this activity is often messy and may get on clothes.
