November is Diabetes Awareness Month, and Fairview Library is partnering with Dr. Rashim Gupta (endocrinologist at MettaH), the Mutual Aid Wellness Collective, local farmer cooperative Tierra Fértil and the Western Carolina Medical Society for a day of community education and awareness!

Free health screenings including on-the-spot Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) testing. will take place from 10:30AM-2PM on a first-come-first-serve basis, with additional educational opportunities and activities throughout the day:

11AM-12PM - Healthy Eating Over the Holidays with Dr. Rashim Gupta of MettaH
12PM-12:30PM - Expanding Access with the Mutual Aid Wellness Collective & WCMS
12:30PM-2PM - Growing Community Wellness with farmer cooperative Tierra Fértil

Diabetes affects more than one in ten adults in the United States, and many people don’t realize they’re at risk. The A1c test measures average blood sugar levels over time, helping participants understand their risk for diabetes or prediabetes.

Speakers will share information and create space for conversation around awareness and prevention, nutrition for wellness, and health resources available right here in Buncombe County. We hope you'll join us!
