Event Details
Block printing is an ancient craft in which artists carve a design into their chosen medium and print it onto paper. In this way the practice allows artists to create as many copies, or imprints, of their original design as they would like. While the first practitioners carved into wood, we will be working with an easier material- linoleum.
This is the first of a two part workshop. During this session participants will learn how to prepare and carve their linoleum blocks. During the second session, on August 5th, we will print our designs onto paper. To make the most of this workshop you will need to attend both sessions, please keep this in mind. If you do not finish carving your block during the first session you will be able to take the block and carving tool home so you can work on it before returning on August 5th.
Supplies are limited so be sure to register. You only have to register for Part 1, your spot in Part 2 will be automatically secured.
