Discover the beautiful Japanese art of sashiko in this hands-on workshop at Pack Memorial Library. Sashiko, meaning "little stabs," is a traditional mending and embroidery technique that combines functionality with striking geometric patterns. In this class, you'll learn the basics of sashiko, including its history, essential tools, and fundamental stitching techniques. You'll practice creating classic patterns on fabric and leave with a small project, such as a coaster or patch. This meditative craft is perfect for beginners and requires no prior sewing experience. All materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own fabric scissors if preferred. Join us to explore this calming and creative art form that turns simple stitches into stunning designs.
