Eager for spring gardening, but wondering where to start? This program will cover how to grow a home-scale vegetable garden in the Southern Appalachians. Leonora talks the best site for your garden, which veggies to grow, whether to grow them from seeds vs. nursery transplants, how to prepare the soil, when to plant, how to use organic fertilizers, and more.
An educational handout will be distributed to enlighten you on planning and how to harvest different vegetables, and how to prevent, identify, and organically treat different pests and diseases.
Also, learn about the different programs and mission of the Dr. John Wilson Community Garden located in South Veteran's Park in Black Mountain.
This presentation will be the second educational offering of seven that the community garden will offer this year.
