IN HONOR OF NATIONAL POLLINATOR WEEK, JUNE 16-22, 2025 --

-- join Dr. Athena Rayne Anderson for an in-depth discussion all about the science of pollination.  This program is geared towards adults, but of course all ages are welcome!  We'll learn the mechanics of how pollination works, an overview of our native pollinator species in Western North Carolina, and conservation concerns with steps to support pollinators in our lives and gardens.  The session wraps up with the fascinating concept of "pollination syndromes" and how you can use them to participate in pollinator conservation.

After the presentation, Dr. Anderson will lead a walk through the library's garden, an NC Arboretum designated ecoEXPLORE HotSpot for its pollinator habitats.  She'll identify beneficial plants in the garden for participants, as well as observe and describe any pollinators that may be visiting.

This program assumes no prior knowledge about pollinators.  If you're curious, please stop by!
