Summer Stories: A Reading & Screening Series
Join us for Summer Stories, a fun and thought-provoking reading and film series. Each month, we’ll dive into a captivating short book with a summer setting, followed by a screening of its film adaptation. This series is an opportunity to reflect on themes of love, loss, and identity, all while enjoying some great discussions and casual community.
When: In-person on the second Fridays of June, July, and August 2025
11:00am – Book discussion
12:00pm – Film screening
What to Bring: Bring your lunch and relax with fellow participants as we enjoy the film together after each discussion.
Books & Films:
- June: The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
- Explore the glamour and tragedy of the Jazz Age.
- Film: 1974 adaptation starring Robert Redford, Mia Farrow, Sam Waterston, and Bruce Dern.
- July: Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín
- A young immigrant navigates love, loss, and belonging in 1950s Brooklyn.
- Film: 2015 adaptation starring Saoirse Ronan.
- August: Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
- A magical story about immortality and the choices that define our lives.
- Film: 2002 adaptation starring Alexis Bledel, William Hurt, and Sissy Spacek.
