Event Details

Join the Buncombe County Special Collections Library to learn about the history of the Asheville Motor Speedway, a .4 mi track located at now Carrier Park!

From 1960 until the final checkered flag on September 17, 1999, watching and participating in stock car races at AMS was a beloved pastime for many across WNC.

This event is all about inviting community members to share their stories and memories with each other and the archive.

This event is FREE and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

RSVPs are encouraged, but not required.

The event will take place at the picnic shelter at Carrier Park at 220 Amboy Road.

We especially encourage folks with special connections to AMS to join us! And to wear your AMS gear!

Make sure to race down to the library to check out the North Carolina Moonshine and Motorsports exhibit on display at Pack Memorial Library throughout September.
