Event Details
Join two local photographers, Gregg Solms and Ken McCullough, for a crash course in photography basics!
No prior experience needed, and no need for fancy equipment. We would love to help you understand your D-SLR, but would also love to show you how to get the most bang for your buck shooting with your smartphone camera.
We will have two sessions of this class. Participants are welcome to attend either, but anyone who comes to both will have an opportunity to practice what they learned in between sessions, with 1-on-1 feedback, constructive criticism, and insight on the second day.
Photography principles are universal, but this class will focus on nature photography. Each session will include a hands on portion, using the beautiful Skyland/South Buncombe Library pollinator garden as a source of inspiration.
About the presenters:
Gregg Solms is a resident of South Asheville and an avid photographer. His photography is on display in the library. You can also find his nature photography in the library collection, in his children's book A Pocket Full of Puffins co-written with author Jim Dale.
Ken McCullough is a photographer and the owner of Parrott Mill Studios. He has been shooting for fun since he was 12 years old, and since retiring has made photography his full-time passion. You can find his work in a number of galleries and shows, as well as see examples on his website.
