Program Description
Event Details
In early autumn, many gardeners and farmers begin the process of collecting seeds from their favorite vegetable or flower. Saving seeds is a way to preserve an older heirloom variety of tomato or a particular variety of flower that has done well for you this year in the garden. When we save seeds, we pass on seed diversity to future generations and save money.
Join Barb Harrison a Buncombe County Extension Master Gardener, as she explains the basics of harvesting seeds, processing seeds from some vegetables, drying and cleaning seeds and finally storing those seeds for next year. Seed Testing and Pretreatment needs for germination of those saved seeds will also be covered.
