Program Description

Event Details

Most everyone in the Fairview community has been affected by Hurricane Helene, and many of us have stories to tell about it. In this two-part workshop, participants will be guided in sharing their personal experiences of and after the hurricane by documenting and expressing them in writing: a proven practice of marking, processing and interpreting life events. Whether you suffered losses, came to the aid of those who did, or encountered our historic storm’s repercussions in some other way, this workshop offers a therapeutic opportunity to creatively convey your knowledge and understanding of Helene’s effects.

Instructor: Ann McCutchan, the author of six books, was a community writing teacher and university professor of creative nonfiction for more than thirty years, guiding hundreds of students and adults in writing about personal experiences. Her work has won several awards and been included in The Best American Spiritual Writing anthology. As a journalist, she interviewed and wrote about survivors of Hurricane Katrina. She lives in Fairview. For more information, please see: www.annmccutchan.com

Participants must register for both class meetings in advance.  Limited to 8 participants.
