This is a low-key community crafting circle, where we listen to an audio short story while we work on our individual crafting projects. All quiet crafts are welcome!
For March (Women's History Month), we will be listening to A Jury of Her Peers by Susan Glaspell.
This 1917 short story follows two women investigating a murder scene with their husbands, the sheriff and county attorney. While the men struggle to find clues, the women are able to ascertain the motive for the crime. It is based off of a one-act play written by the same author, and in turn inspired by a true crime case Glaspell covered as a journalist earlier in her career. It explores themes of law vs justice, particularly in relation to the division of men's and women's lives at the beginning of the 20th century.
